remote starter solenoid, now starter noise ??

i just install a remote starter solenoid, now i hear some type of starter noise (like the starter not disengaging soon enough). This is a lt1 starter with a t56 trans. is this common with the remote solenoid?

Did you jumper from the positive post to the start post on the starter solenoid?

That LT1 starter is probably one of them permanent magnet type starters. they act like a generator when they spin and the current they generate powers the solenoid keeping it closed longer than it should. try removing the jumper and running a separate start wire to the start wire on the remote solenoid and see if that stops the run-on.

Yes. Take a look at this page from Tilton.

http://www.tiltonracing.com/ins/98-297.pdf

You've got it set up like the Ford with a jumper. Some brands of permanent magnet starters have this problem, some brands don't. The instructions for the cheapo one i got said not to wire it with a jumper for this reason. I myself, wouldn't take the chance that I would have to replace a starter and/or flexplate/flywheel.
