Car seems to want to cut off wen driving, what could cause this?

89 Iroc-z 350 automatic. Car seems to want to cut off even under light throttle, cut off once as i stopped in a driveway in drive, RPM hand jumps up and down when it seems to want to cut off... Bad fuel pump? Relay? Or something else?

Start with the basics, get some STP fuel system cleaner, maybe a fresh air filter. Might also be spark plugs, or wires. I've literally burnt a wire before, it was sitting on a header.

Re: Car seems to want to cut off wen driving, what could cause this?

Hey back again (I have to edit my signature, the RS is gone)...Whoopie same problem. I just got a '91 Vert Z28 (Black/red leather, wow) ..only 61K on the ticker, still spectacular but somewhat whupped and neglected. The car ran like sh*t when I got it ..I filled it right away with shell 91 and injector cleaner and drove it home..when I got there the car wouldn't idle smooth, then felt like it was starving for fuel..took it to my local shadetree..we changed plugs, ran worse..checked the filter, it was OK.. we changed fuel pump (simple if you like to disassemble cars)..good to go right? NO.. still runs like you know what, except now we have fuel pressure...Going to machine scope it tomorrow, hope we can find the problem source and get this bad boy on the road..sure would love to drive my "new" car..wish you guys luck with yours..gotta fix that signature too..
