hey i have a 1986 camaro and i rebuilt the engine....i just got rid of the old distributor and put a vaccum Hei one in it cranks but doesn't fire up. There is no spark and i connected the wire from the "batt" symbol on the distriubtor cap to the actual battery and it still wont spark i was wondering if its because of the computer chip or something else..... if anyone knows how to fix this i would appreciate it
hahaa yeah its at tdc with the number 1 plug the rotor was brand new i got a new coil as well....the module is plugged in.... im thinkin its def somethin electrical like the wire from the "batt" on the cap.... would u happen to know what color wire should be.....i might try runnin it right to the ignition tomorrow
Without physically working on it, I've given you all the basics. You just need to apply 12 volts to the distributor and it should work if everything is hooked up and the distributor is installed correctly.
Did you put the rotor button back in under the coil when you replaced it? Under the cap in the center will be a little carbon button that the rotor rides against.
It it still doesn't work, try a different module or try a different distributor.
i just swapped in a vaccum one in my car today and everything went smooth....is this a new dizzy or used?.....have you had it apart?.....did you check for spark or just think youre not gettin any?
