Yesterday me and my friend jacked my car up to try and change my starter and my friend said that my oil pan looked dented, if my oil pan was dented should I be alarmed? Whats the worst thing that could happen?
Yeah the guys in the shop are changing my oil today id hope theyd be bright enough to tell me if the oil pan was a problem lol theyve only had it up on there jack in and out for like around 2 weeks
Being that the oil pump pick up screen is fairly clost to the bottom of the pan to have acess to as much oil as possable at all times dented oil pans can be a bad problem. However if it was causeing you a problem you probably would have noticed it by now.
When they drop a valve it will usually dent the oil pan, but I doubt that is your issue here; the dent will be protruding. Probably just bumped something seeing how they sit so low to the ground; the dent will but up into the pan.

the only time I have seen a dropped valve cause a dent in a oil pan is from the pistion coming apart and the rod doing the damage. and then a dropped valve is the least of your worries if you would please explain how you say a dropped valve will dent the pan?
I think thats what he meant a dropped valve in many cases can have a catastrophic effect on the pistons the result of which could easy cause a dented oil pan among other things. However, again at that rate the pan is the least of your worries but he would deffinetly notice something like that lol.
The oil pan in my rs is dented a bit probably due to the previous owner not being aware of the limited clearance, but it is not causing a problem though. When I show my car to people I just don't say nottin lol
