car wont rev. over 4000 and power is cut in half outta no where.....help!!

okay so i have a 1988 camaro i-roc with a 305tpi. it runs a little hot sometimes (210) but ive had no real problems since i bought it about 2 years ago untill now. out of no where my ars power was cut in half and it wont rev. over 4000. it sounds like a different car too. its so weird. id hate to bring it to a mechanic cause i honestly think it might be something stupid like replacing the fuel filter. or maybe a new fuel pump? it feels like its gasping for air or gas but it idles fine and starts right up. it might have somthing to do with the computer chip or my timing is off. im really lost with this one guys so any suggestions would really help. thanks again.

Running at 210* is not a problem with our cars. They like to run around 220* normally. you prolly are running lean due to a clogged or weak fuel pump. Check fuel pressure or buy a A/F ratio gauge to see if it is running lean.

I have heard of clogged converters doing things similar to this. As far as running a little hot, well akmusclecar is right. the fan will not come one until about 225. I put a 180 degree thermostat, and hooked a toggle switch to a ground wire to ground out the heat sensor... or is called something different...
