i searched threw the forums and didnt really see much. want to hook up an air/fuel ratio gauge in my buddys 85 iroc.he has no computer control in his car. all carb. my question is will this wideband o2 sensor work for a direct connect to the gauge or will we have to buy something else to hook it to which we really dont want to if we dont have to. we just want a direct connect to the guage. as for the gauge its already hooked to power and ground and is installed in the pod. gauge has red, black, green wires. we hooked red to power black to ground and when i touch the green with power on the gauge starts reading. but this wideband has a black plastic connector on it and the gauge only has 1 green wire how do i hook it up to the gauge. i dont want to waste money on something thats not ganna do us any good. here is what i was thinking about buying. will this work? if not can i get a link to the one that will? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INNOV...=p4506.c0.m245

the gauge didnt come w/ the o2 sensor?

I have the same setup. mines is an autometer gauge and everything was included. from the o2 senser to all the wiring.

if in bot mistaken the gauge itself has a pigtail connection that connects to the end of that o2 sensor on the link....

no the gauge was givin to him a while ago and didnt come with the wideband.. like i said the gauge only has 3 wires red black and green

wow.. maybe I've had to much coffee but after reading your post I'm just thinking.. what? Ok this is really simple though. You got power and ground thats easy but the green wire I'm assuming should go directly to your o2 sensor on your exhaust. Usually an o2 sensor has a black clip, that might be why you see a black clip on your green wire. I dont think the clip fit on my Auto Meter a/f guage so I just clipped it off and used a bullet connector on the wires. Ran it through the firewall and straight to the exhaust, works perfectly.

tips
> Make sure your have 12v flowing to the guage's red wire while the engine is on
> Wait till the engine is at operating temp before you expect to see any lights, an o2 sensor doesnt read until its warmed up.
> If you still dont get a good reading, check your o2 sensor for build up on it, it might just be dead, I had to replace mine
> Rumor has it that to much heat kills o2 sensors quickly, dont run to lean to long and beware of the heat that headers generate. I'm not sure how much heat it takes to kill one or how true this "rumor" is.

The O2 sensor in the link is a heated O2, just put one in my car last night along with the LC-1 control and gauge. Think it was taking about 20-30 seconds for it to warm up then display the AFR.
