fuel pump wiring - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

hey folks, in need of some info, a friend told me that you have to cover up the exposed wiring when connecting the fuel pump to the sender, just wondering what some people have used to do so, and not have the gasoline eat away at it as it would with regular heat shrink

It's not covered with anything from the factory, and 3 years ago when I replaced mine I never covered them, and I still roll!

I know, bare connections and wires closed up in a metal box with fumes and gas sloshing all around. But, I guess you have to just take some things on faith.

ok did you actually replace the sending unit? i was told by my friend that you have to splice in the new wires that come with the pump, that's what he was saying that needs to be covered up so as not to be exposed to gas

I just did the pump, and installed with the components that it came with. I guess the wiring itself was covered with it's own insulation, but they ended in simple solderless connectors like everything else in the world. I know - it's a scary proposition, wires and fumes - just do it as good as the factory did, and there shouldn't be a problem.

thx dude, i'm quite meticulous so it should be as good as stock when i'm done
