I've recently purchased a 1977 Caprice with a 305, and decided to replace the stock Rochester 2v and iron intake with an Edelbrock performer RPM intake, and a Edelbrock 600 cfm 4v carburetor. Upon removal of the old iron, I noticed a very small puddle of coolant in the lifter valley near the #2 cylinder. There was no white smoke when started before the disassembly, and the oil, while dark brown/black, is not milky in appearance. I've only noticed coolant in that one corner. Could this be just a little spillage fron negotiating the old manifold out, or a more serious problem (bad head gasket, cracked head or block, etc.)?
