Engine stumbles under light acceleration

Heres the deal, i have an 83 Z28 carb. I just had the cat convertor replaced in order to pass emssions. Now 2 days later when i try to slowly accelerate the engine stumbles, theres basically no power, kinda sputters and limps it way forward. But if i stomp on it, it throws me back in the seat like usual and takes right off. After this started i replaced cap, rotor, plugs, and wires just because it was time. No change in the low end driveability. Any ideas what might be causing this? Any ideas would be appreciatted.

thanks guys

come on man, carb tuning. it's nothing to do with the ignition. find somone to tune your carb and it'll run just as well when you stomp on it as well as when you lightly touch the throttle

Re: Engine stumbles under light acceleration

it just seems so unlikely that the carb would start running like crap all of a sudden. The car was running beautifully a few days ago, now put put put, you know. All this started right after they put the new cat on.. They shouldnt have even been under the hood so i cant see them accidently pulling something off or what not. Im assuming their unrelated issues, but the timing is kinda suspicious. Ive checked vacuum lines and hoses and everyhting looks like its in the right place. Im just stumped.

well if it's just running really bad and you think it's ignition related try replacing the entire distributor and reflashing the computer, you can easily reflash the ecu by unplugging the battery for 3 minutes then plugging it back in, I recomend about 15 minutes though. maybe try reflashing the ecu before you do the distributor though

What kind of carb do you have? so its stumbling at part throttle or when you stomp it from a dead stop? your accelerator pump might need adjusted. try adding some extra fuel by adjusting the idle screws, although it probably wont work, but its worth a try. it might be that your car is breathing better with the new cat and it needs more initial fuel to make up for that. how nasty is your air filter? have you messed with your carb recently?
