Flickering Headlights, High Idle - Need Help!

Today I swapped the two belts on the front of my 350 4bbl for new ones and installed Moroso valve covers while I was at it.

I got in the car to drive it this evening and I noticed it had a high idle at startup, like 2k.

I figured it was just warming up, and continued to drive. This is when I noticed the headlight and interior lights flickering. And my radio kept shutting off and restarting. When I looked at the Battery Charge gauge, it was way below the normal level.

Anybody have any ideas? What did I manage to royally f*ck up this time?

Thanks guys, I'm really stressing

I'm not sure what happened but I'd take off the alternator and have ADvance or Autozone check it for free. They may be able to do it on the car as well. I always take mine off and take it in to check however.

Also make sure the Alternator is connected well and your grounds look and measure good ( 0.1 ohms or less)

sounds like voltage surge. try running it without the alternator connected to the power. could be a diode bad or voltage regulator sending ac current. happend to me
