Re: L03 Heads

Seats are not a DIY job. And they have nothing to do with blue smoke. If you want to do seals, that's great. No need to pull the heads, but if you do, then upgrade to the non-swirl-port heads used on the LB9s with 5-speed.

Seriously, these are the worst heads GM ever made. Just about anything is better than these heads. A set of 350 vortec heads would be great, even the 305 vortec heads are far superior to LO3 heads.

Re: L03 Heads

What should i do though? I don't know the appropriate casting of 305 heads, and people tell me i'll lose compression or it'll be hell working with 350 vortec heads on my 305.. ive been hearing good and bad reports on them and no ones giving me a straight answer. :\ I know that'll i'll need with vortec heads a vortec aluminum intake to tbi, and since i do that i heard a cam would help alot... (lt1 w/ vortec?)

Re: L03 Heads

yes if you run the 906 or 062 vortec castings you will loose a bit of compression gonna guess .2-.5 but the power you will gain from just not running those other heads will more than make up for it but you are starting to get into the area of needing a new tune

059 casting are good 305 vortec heads.

I would not invest in new heads if stayn under 5000rpm.

Re: L03 Heads

well from what you all said those are 3 castings, and IF i remember correctly, each casting just has a slight different type of air flow chamber?

which one would be best if i get a different cam later? and maybe get a bigger throttle body?
