60 psi oil pressure, no oil to the rockers

Ok, I discovered something yesterday that has me perplexed. When I start my car, I am getting a good reading on the oil pressure approx 60 psi, however, on a whim I took the oil fill cap off, and my rockers are bone dry. I looked for the obvious (car is full on oil). I am at a loss as to why this could be. The engine is not running hot like it's not getting any oil at all either. Has anyone out there ever encountered this before? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Re: 60 psi oil pressure, no oil to the rockers

well have you recently made any adjustments to the rockers?

at idle there isnt going to be much oil up there any ways if you are worried pull a valve cover off start the engine give it a minute idleing then bring the RPMs up to 2500-3000 if you still arent getting oil to flow out of the pushrods then i might be concerned

depending on how new or beaten the engine is i might put a quart of ATF in the oil run the car for 10-15 miles then do an oil change

Re: 60 psi oil pressure, no oil to the rockers

haven't done anything to the motor. I bought the car a short time back, and have only driven it minimally. The odometer says 141k. I know there wont be much oil at idle, but these things don't even have a film on them. I will try the higher rpm test and see what I get.

it's completely normal. It takes a little bit for the oil to circulate to there... Go drive the car around get it warm and check again... I gauntness there will be a mess of oil under the valve covers.
