Will a tpi engine run with the distributor 180 deg out?

Hi,

I just put a fresh engine in my car and I cant seem to make it run right. It feels like there is an awful misfire. I checked the distributor 2x and I am 90% sure it is not in backwards. My main question is will a TPI engine run (albeit rough) with the distributor in backwards (180 deg off)?

Thanks
