87 305 tpi stuttering and dieing

Ok so my 305 started stutter really bad the other day and I ending up taking it into the mechanic since I was on the road. He said that my plugs were bad and my rotor and cap were to. Since I had just replaced them advance auto replaced them for free. The mechanic also adjusted my timing. The car ran fine after that. This was like two days ago. Well to my surprise it started to do it again today. So here is what I have done lately. Maybe if you know what has been done you can figure something out or just be stumped like me. I recently replaced plug, wires, cap and rotor, coil, had the a/c repaired, new water pump, changed transmission fluid and filter, oxygen sensor, fuel filter, and I think that is it that I can think of. I am completely stuck and don't know what to check. Hopefully some one can help.

Re: 87 305 tpi stuttering and dieing

I have been dealing w/ the same thing. Read my thread and see if it helps. The last things I did were the intake and injectors. Wish I wouldve changed the fuel pressure regulator while I had all that stuff apart. My car sat a lot so I think that may have had something to do with my sputtering (bad fuel/gunk in the tank). Anyway check the thread out.

Re: 87 305 tpi stuttering and dieing

So the car is still stuttering, but I found something else. My transmission is leaking from the kickdown cable. I have ordered the a new cable due to the cable being loose, but I was wondering if this stuttering problem that I am having is possibly due to the tranny not shifting right and now it is leaking. Think this is the problem or just another problem?
