hi guys
riding to work on hwy, ses lite comes on, car runs like crap, almost stalling when i got off hwy, get to work. no codes, car starts fine
leave work, no codes, car starts fine, 5 mins later ses comes on car runs like crap, boging down, when u give it gas, seems like nothing happens, it eventually got up to 60, car now smells like its burning, temp shows around 200. 20 mins later light goes out and car drives fine. i get home no codes, i start car up 1 hr later, now car wont stay on unless i give it gas. now i have code 36, 10 mins later ses goes out, no codes.. any clues?????
Well code 36 is your Mass air flow sensor right, i think.
I looked at replacing mine, and a new one was close to 200, so instead i bought Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner at Advance Auto, for $7, car seems to run a little better.
I know if the sensor is bad the car will run like sh*t
Not sure if this could be your problem but might be something to try.
sensor is located here, (picture) unplug it and take it off the car if u try to clean it, spray it with cleaner and then use a air compressor with the air tool to blow air thru it to dry it, dont plug it in wet or damp and try to run the car.
The sensor is just a little little fine piece of wire, almost have to get a magnifing glass to see it.
check the harness coming out of the maf sensor. I had an issue with intermittent codes 33 and 36....turns out my electric fans were trying to eat my harness on that side....cut the bad section of harness out and re-routed the harness away from the fan and I have had no issues since.
