Looking 4 NEW 3RD GEN!

Okay as some of you know I crashed my 89 R.S into some pine trees and its a total loss. NOTHING on the car is salvageable. My heart is set on geting a new 3rd gen andi i just wanted to know some pros and cons of T-Tops vs. hardtops. what are key points i chould check should I decide upon buying a T-Top car? also, my last camaro was an automatic... would it be better/ more desirable to get a standard? and finally if i wish to get a 305/350 Did they only put those in IROCs- Z28's? okay.. theres alot to answer here and i thank anyone who ventures to answer my questions. Im VERY lucky to be alive after my 1st crash... so IDK if i wanna get the T-Tops anyhow.. i just waould like an opinion to sway me one way or the other.

If the pine tree jumped out at you, its not your fault, lol

Most people complain that Ttops leak, i own both, ttop and hard top, my ttops 90% of the time dont leak. once in a while i will get some water inside. the ttop is nice, ecspecially on a nice cool day.

My preference is automatic, but thats up to you, i like to sit back and enjoy the ride, instead of always reachin for the clutch.

Re: Looking 4 NEW 3RD GEN!

The RS cars had V8s as well - the 305 carb and 305 TBI were available in the RS's (depending on the year). It's easier to swap a V8 into a V8 car than into a V6 car.

I love the T-tops, I just removed my A/C because I never run it as my tops are always out - others want hard tops as they are more into the racing than I am - the hardtop is sturdier, but SFC's are a must on either car. Stop driving in neighborhoods where the trees are jumping out into the road, and it won't be a factor anymore!

I prefer auto for 2 reasons - 5 speed won't handle a 350 motor and the T56 is out of my budget for the next few years, and I'm too old with bad knees to be clutching through town all day. It's easier to swap an auto into a manual car than it is to swap a manual into an auto car.

Good luck!

After seeing that, I think you need a Volvo.

If you get a TTop car next, do us a favor and put the body bag on BEFORE you drive!

I'm just giving you a hard time - got to laugh it off right?

Glad you weren't hurt.
