no power. trouble codes

Hey guyz. I need a little help. I rebuilt my engine and got her to turn on. But she will not rev up above 1500 rpms. She begins to stutter badly. I pulled the trouble codes and got 33 which is a defective MAF sensor. But Ive always had this code before my engine blew so that doesnt concern me for now (besides a former GM mechanic told me that if it were bad to disconnect and the ECM will resort to its programed default setting). Also I got a code of 42 whch is Electronic Spark Timing. which is a bad ignition control module. Could any of these be contributing to the issues of not giving power? Throttle Position Sensor is new and adjusted, and so is the Idle Air Control valve. Any suggestions would help. Thanks guys.

Check the wiring that everything is hooked up and the ground wires (similar to the ones shown below) are clean and tight.

Yez Zir. As a matter of fact, I have 3 ground straps from the block to the body. I made sure I had good ground by using the star washer.

How did the engine "blow"? Check that the previous engine didn't stop up the cat by filling it with oil.

Re: no power. trouble codes

Didnt really blow, just throw a rod on #5 piston. the rod was shattered. Ill upload a picture of the rod and piston so that everyone can see but itll have to wait till maby tommorrow. Did you read my bio? My Camaro was sold to a junkyard back in 2004 without my permission. I found it and a few parts were missing including the cat. So now that I have my rebult engine and running (with the exception that my IROC doesnt respond to any throttle response) I decided not to instal a cat. Theyre to expensive $200 + Magnaflow. California has really strict laws so I cant throw on just any cat. So I have a 3" straight pipe all the way down to the Flow Master muffler. You might wonder,,,, No Catalytic converter??? Right. I got a connect at a certified smog station.

Re: no power. trouble codes

Let me get this straight. Your engine blew and someone stole your car later with the blown engine?
First of all, you have my profound sympathy for living in the socialist state of California and having your car stolen.
You will have to single step thru the troubleshooting with the error codes that the ECM is reporting and get the inputs to be normal.
Is this a TPI setup? I didn't think the 86 TPI used a MAF.
And congratulations on getting your car back and getting around the inspection crap. Hell, down here in 'Bama it's all they can do to get us to run mufflers (still running without).

Re: no power. trouble codes

To make a long story short, here we go. 2003, wedding gift. 5 months later in Colorado Springs(while I was stationed at Ft. Carson, CO.), Was racing another IROC. Heard loud knocking. Parked it. 2004, Honorable Discharg. Started working as a roofer inspector. Met guy. told me he works on CHevy's. towed Camaro to his pad. 2 months later, car is missing from his pad. Found dragging tire marks leading me to believe that it was towed. Filed police report. 1 month later, inspected a roof at Anderson's Salvage yard in Greeley CO. Got curious, found my Camaro in the process yard, not public pick yard. Called police. Got the car out in the main parking lot. Did a inspection. They cut out the cat for its metal (platinum). Missing throttlebody and distributor. Threatend to take salvage yard to court for recieving stolen property. They threatened to counter sue for trasspassing (when I entered the process yard unattended). Left it as that. Took my "friend" to court for selling property that wasnt his, sttled for $600 dollars. What he did was that he sold my camaro to a junk tow truck. On the towing papers, my friend stated that he was the owner with no pink slip. He needed money because he needed to pay child support. So thats why he sold it and acted like it was stolen. It came out more expensive for him since I won the settlement. And now Im here in California and Im finally getting my Camaro going.
