is this a good cam for an 88 firebird 305 tpi? Also do i need to replace the roller lifters or valve springs if i replace the cam? specs trick flow Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 270/276, Lift .452/.465, Chevy, Small Block http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-31402000

depending on mileage, lifters wouldnt be a bad idea, but you can re-use you old ones, if they are in good shape, even though the cam is fairly mild, i would go with some upgraded springs such as the comp 981-16's, they will work with the stock retainers, and fit the stock spring pockets, also that cam seem a little low in the LSA for EFI, if look for something with a LSA of around 112 degree, and maybe a wee bit less duration(210-214 would work nice for a stock 305 tpi, and still have a bit of a lumpy idle)

That really isn't a bad cam for this, but you could do better. Are you wanting more low-end, more mid-range, or more top-end?

looking for more mid to high range. I just pulled the old cam and noticed the cam bearing is wearing on one side to a copper color no heavy groves though. Does this mean I should wait to swap the cam untill the engine is rebuilt with new cam bearings? It never missed an oil chang but the op gauge went to 60 all the time? i wonder if it starved the cam? I was going to replace the oil pump too.

it may be a good idea just to wait until your rebuilding it, you could risk damaging the new cam with a bad cam bearing
