Dont know where to start, rebuild

Im rebuilding my 90 TPI Camaro iroc

im not to sure on where to start, i just cant really pick what to go with.
i want it to be a daily driver and to get good fuel milage but still be speedy.

So far im thinking removing the AIR system and emissions stuff ( no law in canada) ,
already put in a rebuilt 700r4 with heavy duty parts and a B&M stage 2 shift kit.

want a rebuild on the engine TPI 350 and putting in a new cam/heads/intake/runners/headers.

i just dont know what parts to use, the only parts i have picked is SLP runners and a Magnaflo exhaust.

ive been looking at Edlebrock Vortec heads and intake manifold as well as porting everything.

also id like to rebuild the rear end and maybe put in some different gears.

some input or advice would be great , just a little over whelmed.

Re: Dont know where to start, rebuild

Do one thing at a time. First, you must consider that if you get into the motor and start swapping the cam, heads and intake, you are going to need to have the car tuned in order for it to run properly. Otherwise, you are going to be disappointed with what you get out of your upgrades, and your fuel economy.
The vortec heads and matching intake are a good choice. I recommend comp cams xr264hr12. It is a good choice for TPI and will give good fuel economy and a nice power boost. If you want fuel economy, don't go above 3.27:1 in that car as far as the gears are concerned. A new set of injectors would definitely help. I recommend bosch desing 3 from FIC. These changes plus a good wide band tune will translate into a nice seat of the pants power boost at a fairly low expense to fuel economy.
If your motor runs fine now, do the rear end if you have already done the tranny. Otherwise, depending on what shape your rear is in, you may be up for a surprise when you put your newly rebuilt engine in and decide to get on it. Get a good 3" catback, the magnaflow is a good choice. Wait on the headers until after you rebuild the engine. You are going to want to brake the newly rebuilt engine with the exhaust manifolds on or some old headers.
I went a bit milder than this in my 91 305TPI and only lost about 1 to 2 mpgs in fuel economy, if even that.
