A while back a guy was asking about buying my bronco, and during the conversation he mentioned this thing called lucas. From what i remember it was some kind of engine oil additive?
Well I forgot the name, and thus couldn't look further into it, but i stumbled on it in a post here (The highest millage thread hehe)
Lucas puts out a few different products but their main ones are fuel/oil/trans/power steering additives.
I used the oil additive when I was assembling my last engine so I didn't install parts dry. It stuck like honey to everything and made one heck of a mess out of my parent's garage. Definitely served its purpose well.
There are a lot of opinions out there on the different additives and their abilities. I always had good luck with the stuff and had no issue recommending it to friends/family. but as will all opinions, take em with a grain of salt
Only place i've used the stuff is in the transmission and the powersteering system. Worked wonders for me. My transmission was shot, dumped half a bottle in and it lasted me 6 or 8 months long. Dad ran a work truck for several years as well as my boss, lol. Worked good in my powersteering too. As far as the engine goes,no clue. I don't add anything like that to my motor, don't want to risk anything. But yea, as stated, with all opinions, don't trust them and do your own research, lol.
I use a 30% lucas mixture in my 90 dakota with a 2.5 4cyl, it does wonders. I beat the truck pretty hard, running 75-85 constantly on the highway (in 5th gear at about 5000 rpms) with regular 10w-40 it got pretty warm fast, the lucas keeps me actually close to cold. Ive been running it for the past 20,000 miles and at 160,000 the engine still has plenty of pep in it. Dont know how it would treat a bigger engine like a 350 or my 383, but its definatly good for 4 bangers... ive heard nothing but positive feedback on it. The bottle ive got claims you can run as much as 60% lucas in older engines... im assuming where it really helps is in worn cylinders and bearings where friction tends to cause gaps, the thick oil must be able to flow and sorta close the gap while being fluid enough to cycle. That being said, im not about to put it in my current project engine. Not worth the risk, IMHO.

I usually put about half a litre in my truck (1998 K1500 w/350) every oil change, tired old engine with over 200,000km and a bit of piston slap. Seems to slow down oil consumption and help oil pressure stay a bit more consistent between cold and hot. I'm scared to put any more than half the bottle in, although it says safe for up to 60% of the oil capacity. Don't know if I'd be willing to risk putting it in an engine I cared about.
