85 z28...wipers work fine...
Washer will not work.. Bottle is full.
Is the washer motor on a seperate fuse from the wipers themselves?
Anything I can check?
Thanks!
have the same problem.... i am getting power to the pump when pressing the wash buttom on the steering column. Think the pump is broke. Probly have the same problem as me.
The pump is not apart of the bottle on my 85. Unless I run the wipers frequently, the pump looses fluid and requires priming. If you hear the pump working but it produces no fluid, try the above.

You can get a replacement pump for the wiper mounted ones at AZ or one of the others. Like $17? No tools required for install.

Yesterday I removed the washer pump. I hooked up 12 volts to it and all I got was sparks. It is part of the wiper motor assembly, it is not located at the bottle as mentioned before on a 85.
I am going to replace it tommorrow. $16 at local parts store.
Wish me luck that once I install it that the wipers still work as they should.
If you do remove the pump, be careful not to break the holding tab as I did.
That plastic is very brittle to say the least. Its a tight fit, so I think I will be ok.
Yea i broke my tab off as well it fits snug in there so no worries. You didnt have to remove the the cover . Oh and fyi if that gear inside ever goes bad you have to replace the hole thing unless anyone knows where to get a rebuild kit. I had to buy a whole new one b/c the small pinion gear chewed up the large gear. I think it was like a 40 dollar part.
yea, after I got it apart i saw that i did not have to remove the cover..
even before so.. I just did not think i could get it out as its kinda tight back there..
Hope it all works after replacing it. Fixin to go pick up the pump as we speak. Ill post results.
Well my washers have been working great for several weeks now. Until now.
Now the passenger side will only dribble, no pressure. The driver side wont do anything, it is completely dry. I checked the screen intake, its clean.
The pump is still pumping. What can I do to make them work again?
Will a air nozzle full of pressured air do the trick?
Pull the hose off right after the pump and check the flow. You've likely gunked up the smaller orifices where they spray onto the windshield.

Getting plenty of fluid directly from the pump. I guess Ill try a safety pin or something. Why do I always have simple issues that drive me nuts like this? LOL
I filled the jar to the top with fluid and used a safety pin on the nozzles. They did not appear to be stopped up. Did not work. Only getting a dribble out passenger side, and nothing at all out driver. I am going to see what I can do with the air compressor next.
ok compressor did the trick. Ended up being a couple of things. When I took the air compressor to the pickup line, it blew crap everywhere and help me isolate a problem. it blew a line apart that was brittle. I fixed the line, and the washer will now squirt above and past the roof. LOL.
The pickup screen I cleaned it with the air compressor but it keeps getting stopped up. I may buy a new pickup screen and drain the bottle to clear out any remaining debris. I think we can call this one solved hopefully anyway.
Got mine working. Got the pump from Advance (i think) for less than 20$. My cover was smashed from previous engine pull so I had to go to the junk yard to get one. Dealer doesn't have them anymore! If you can't find a good cover on a camaro, try other 80's cars. I found my plastic cover on a 80's Regal. Works great.
Mine stopped working and all I had to do was reset the connection to the pump by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
thats kewl. I think some are shorted out like mine. You hook 12v to it and it pops, arcs and nothing more.
Im glad to see you guys getting these fixed. Gotta have the squirters!
