Hi, I need help on trying to tighten steering belt on my 92 RS. does anybody know how i do it? its a V belt. the motor is 350 good wrench from a 74 chevy pickup.
losen the mounting bolts, use something like a prybar or what not to pry the pump in the direction, that would make the belt tighter, what should be prying it toward the fender, when the belt gets tight thighten the mounting blots, this is easier with 2 people
you want the belt tight but when you press on it between the two pullys, you want the belt to have about a 1/8 of an inch of slack in it, if it squeels thighten it up more, getting Vbelts correct is really something you should be shown not what you can read, its alot easier, if you can see what someone means by the proper amount of slack
