chevy 350 seized?

hey everyone i have an 89 rs with a 350 tbi and t-5 that was just installed about 7/8 months ago in my project, then went out west and worked for 6 months. i came back about a month ago and when i tried to turn the motor over by hand i have no luck, but when i put my flywheel on i couldnt keep it still. Is it wrong to think worse case senario? i have taken my starter off and checked it out and its not jamming it or anything. If it is seized after that long whats the best bet without putting alot of money into it?

Re: chevy 350 seized?

depending on the humidity and other ambient condition,
might have some areas of fine rust powder on some of
the cylinder walls-if that is the case, you could take all
the plugs out, shoot some oil in each cylinder, carefully
turn engine over by hand till it frees up,turn some more
with starter, change oil. Have had to do this before on
some engines that had sat for years in poor storage
conditions,some took a cheater to crack loose-posibility
of a ring getting broke in bad cases, but i never had any
problems and engines ran fine

Re: chevy 350 seized?

well the car was in my moms old garage between toronto and ottawa, and i guess they had a cold wet summer but the car was exposed to nothing, ill try that today and let you know how i make out. I think the rings are just sticking

my sisters boyfriend came over and the starter could like almost make the motor rock but it killed my battery fast but no other luck other than that

Re: chevy 350 seized?

try checking the coolant level. the water could seep in. but maybe its your shift linkage to your t-5, maybe its in first gear. also ive heard sometimes the valves dont open.sometimes due to rocker arm..

Re: chevy 350 seized?

Have the starter checked on a diagnostic machine. My IROC acted like it was locked up,turn key, motor did not turn, lights died, nothing but a clunk.I could turn flywheel manually so I took the starter off and it seemed fine till I took it to AZ and put it on the tester and it just about jumped out of the machine when they applied power.Replaced it and problem solved.
Good Luck

Pour some marvlous mystery oil down each plug hole, will losen up anything n burn off easy.
