I Think I Have A Fuel Pump Issue Need Help!!!

i have a 90' camaro rs with a 2.8l, but i really think its an 89 cant remember what the og engine was before the 2.8 was put in, but anyway the car starts up fine but when i press on the gas while idled it cuts off. i originally though it was a fuel filter issue but changed that and its still doing the same thing, but this this itll let me rev it all the way and it wont cut off , but it will cut off if i drive it and smash on the gas. me and my mechanic dont know what it is he says he hears the fuel pump when i cut the car on but i cant hear it. just a little confused and tired puttin money in it and the issue is not fixed please if someone could help me pin point the issue it would be greatly appreciated.

yes you should hear the fuel pump engage with the key in the on position. next step is to check the fuel pressure. If that all checks out, look for vacum leaks.
