THERMAC - necessary?

Hey guys, I have a '91 f-bird TBI and want to make some changes to the airbox to get better airflow to the engine. I'll most likely replace the entire airbox or at the very least modify it heavily to make use of the cowl hood that I have on the car.

What I'm wondering about is - should I preserve the function of the THERMAC valve that brings hot air off the manifold back into the TBI when the engine is cold?

I'd prefer to do away with it since it's going to give me a lot more flexibility in terms of what/how I modify the current setup but I'm not sure if I will run into problems with the engine stalling out when starting it in cold weather (I'm from Michigan and it can get pretty cold here) I understand that one of the primary purposes for it is emissions control, but I've heard differing views on whether bypassing it will give me trouble with stalling out when the engine is cold.

Re: THERMAC - necessary?

The computer can compensate for colder air. And changing the air cleaner will get you more power.
