pulling rocker arm studs

pulling rocker arm studs

so i bought this tool from summit. they were out of the one i was used to, but the parts guy said itll work too. the heads im trying to use it on are vortec. this is the tool im using http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-900136/ im wondering if any of you guys have any experience using it? i need to pull the studs out on my heads and have drilled in studs put in for my 383 im building

Rocker studs will pull out with hi lift cams which is why people change to screw in ones.
You can just stack big nuts and a washer on them and crank them out with a non locking nut

Yea, I made a tool similar to that, out of 1" square CRS, with 4 holes in it so that I could do 4 at a time. It guides the tap, and gives you some height too. Use a long handle ratchet, and grade 8 3/8"NF nuts (not stock style locking nuts, that just tires your arm out faster).

Remember, pull ONE out, and tap it's hole, then move on. If you pull ALL out, then go back and want to align your tap, you'll see why that's bad
