smog pump

Hi i have a 92 rs 305.. if i reroute belt to miss smog pump will i have to remove it rite away?.. the pully is making some noise.. thanks for the help.

Re: smog pump

You don't have to remove it but you do need a belt that is a bit longer, here is what I used goodyear belt part #4060967, hope this helps.

If your bypassing the smog pump wouldn't you need a shorter belt? last 3 number of part# tells me it's a 96.75" long belt.

Belt Or Suspenders ?

92RS702 is correct.

You need a longer belt do to the new routing.

You should remove the pump.

Less weight, cleaner engine compartment, more room.

You might have to at least remove the pulley.

Yeah I'm thinking of removing my smog pump as well since my car isn't due for emissions for another 2 years. Does anybody notice any gains after bypassing it?
