1984 trans am HO No start

I am having problems and here is the run down of the car. 60K original miles new advanve auto fuel pump(cheap
one), new plugs, rebuilt q jet wtih new filter, alt and batt. First got car to run after i installed the carb, and then pump dies. I replace the pump car starts cold idle around 1100, and i drive car around block once i start to in to drive way it dies. I barely get it too start and get it parked finally.
So now it is not fireing up anymore, but it has spark( pulled wire and used old plug).

When i pour gas straight into to carb it will run, blows a lot of smoke(had bad gas mixed with 5 gallons of 91 and octane booster), and then dies. I cannot not get car to start without pouring gas into carb. I dunno if i hooked up all vacuum lines correctly but i do not have any open lines that i can see. All the electric connectors plugged in and i pulled big gas line and no fluid coming out. I do not know how much gas is in tank gauge reads fuel always so dunno i might be out of gas.

When i take gas cap off in hisses so i purchased new cap and it still does it. Battery was disconnected before i attempted to fire it again. There is also a clicking sound coming from carb area ??? I also do not know how the q jet needles or floats were set at, rebuilt off of car and re installed after. This is my first non ford car, so i need a lot of help!
Car ran multiple times for lengthy times before i drove in around block. I just need some pointers on where to start looking. THanks guys

Re: 1984 trans am HO No start

was the big gas line with no fuel coming out the one
on the frame feeding the fuel pump or was it the one
off the fuel pump feeding the carb?
Sounds like the float is stuck or no fuel is getting to the
carb. The ticking from the carb is normal and good-that
is the"dancing needle"or mixture control solenoid
working
