Car Starts...Then Dies help!

Hello All,
well i have a '87 camro coupe, 305 Carb
it ran fine for awhile untill last weekend, it turns over and you have to floor it to get it started and once it does start it just dies again
my thoughts are a stuck choke, or leak?
any ideas??

thanks

If you have to floor it to start it, that's either flooding or a stuck/non-operating choke.

do you have any more info on your set up? sounds like a carb or fuel pressure problem. just prop your choke open to rule out the choke.

I agree it sounds like the carb isnt getting enough fuel and when you flooring it, enough builds up to crank but not enough maintain it.

not really sorry the car is in AZ right now and im in CO, im flying down to fix it and bring it back in a few weeks, i was just trying to get som ideas b4 i went down there.

my understanding is if its only a choke problem that if i can feather the throttle and keep it going untill it warms up it should be fine. i hope it is just that though

if you get black dark smoke when this happens, then it's your choke... I had a similar problem...

then the choke is definitely the place to start, I dont know about your exact setup but you should be able to replace it, or bypass it, or rebuild it, it might be that its just stuck on
