Carb Vs. EFI fuel sending unit

Stock carb sending unit in my girls 86 Z28 floats- gas guage never reads level. Ran into this a few times with GM, replace sending unit and its OK but i cant find a new carb sending unit anywhere. I have another gas tank out of a TBI car with sending unit and pump. Has anyone converter an efi unit to a pick-up for a carb?

Was also thinking on just using the electric in-tank pump and a bypass regulator for the carb, but more leaning towards sticking with the mechanical pump for ease of use and not running anymore wiring and such

Re: Carb Vs. EFI fuel sending unit

GTFiero, the following sticky should be all you need...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/carb...nk-pickup.html

My 84 had a disintegrated sending unit, so I needed a new one. I found out that they make them for fuel injected 85 models and up but not for carbureted. I bought a sending unit for an 85 from Spectra Premium.
Look for part number FG20A. The boys at the garage had to weld on a stainless steel pickup where the in-tank pump would go. It's been working great ever since and I was able to keep my mechanical fuel pump.
