guess i can put this here
anyone ever used this kit before? is it any good? i mean are there any issues is everything i need there with it? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FEM-205-6286M000/ hate to say it but my l69 recently turned into a dog and has been burning oil smoking on startup and is down on power, i think its time for this i bought a can of restor and i'll see what happens with it, but im not too optimistic thanks anyways guys

Take it to the machine shop before deciding on either one. If the bores look nice and you wanna save cash, then go with the first one. If the block needs to be bored out, then you will have to get a kit with pistons sized accordingly. You also need to know if the crank needs to be turned as well. It would suck to get stock sized bearings and the crank needed to be turned 10 thousandths.

Rebuild is rather drastic action for an engine that runs crappy and smokes on startup. Are you sure the engine is toast?

honestly no, i found out today that the little screw/spring that controls my idle was gone o.0 so i got one from an old carb we had laying aorund and set my idle so that the car idles 1k like it should and it started all day no problems and ran great, she runs fine but that little bit of blue smoke all winter has me worried and several people have told me i need to re ring my pistons and get a valve job

If it smokes only on startup, you need new valve seals. The good news is a complete set of 16 will you about $12.

its about 850-900 but its perfectly fine now, no smoke, starts right up runs great, getting better mileage too has this ever happened o anyone else? losing the idle screw i mean?
