Engine acting strange when SES light comes on

For starters I have a 92 firebird with the 3.1L in it. The issue I'm having is that the when the ses light comes on i lose my speedo, ac, overdrive. Cooling fan comes on and the car runs extremely rich. Sometimes it stalls when stopping at a light or idles at 400. I pulled the code from the ECM which gave me a code 14 (high temp on engine sensor). I changed the sensor last night and left the battery unhooked overnight to clear the code from the ECM. Got in the car this morning and the code came back. I'm kinda stumped as to what could cause this kind of issue but any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get as much info as i had out to you guys.

A code is a fault with that system ; not just that the sensor is fault.
Could be bad wiring / connections somewhere , bad grounds/ etc

Diagnostics needed

Re: Engine acting strange when SES light comes on

Thanks for the link. Have been searching trying to find something close to my issue with no luck so far. Is the scan tool needed to correctly use that chart? I know that the temp gauge on the dash has been working fine and I have not seen it our of normal range. The reason I decided to go ahead and change the sensor out was due to the fact that the plug on the sensor was rotating in the housing. I will deffiently be out there tomorrow chasing wires.

Re: Engine acting strange when SES light comes on

Well I have an update for anyone having a similar issue to mine. Checked all the wiring and found no faults in the system. So I believe that i have a malfunctioning computer. I will update again when I test it again with another computer.
