firebirds lights will not pop up
so i have 1991 firebird and i have been trying to get my headlights to pop up i checked the convenience center the fuss were good but i replaced them anyway i know the gears are good because i can raise them manually and the lights work flawlessly except they don't popup by themselves what else can i check also i don't hear anything at all when i put my ear up to the moters while someone flips the switch

if so then you need to check the wiring to the headlight motors.
bad ground wire possibly or corroded connectors..

Re: firebirds lights will not pop up
power is still getting to the lights.. the wiring for head lights and motors are bundled in the same harness green wire with black stripe or white stipe.. and black wire I believe. and a gray wire with black stripe.
The healdlight / motor relay is a box on the firewall.. next to the power brake booster... black rectangle can't miss it..
from this box the wiring should is plugged in and bundled in a harness at the subframe next to the steering shaft, from there is goes to the front end.
if you disconnect this box the ligths should not come on...
Mine is 25 years old & still works but I did loose a headlight motor this year.. the nylon gear wore out.. they make rebuild kits for the motors..
if your controllor box is bad,,, you may have to special order at parts house or try Hawks or other 3rd gen online site. check the connecters & wires first.

It should be a black rectangular box... between wiper motor and brake booster..

Aha,,, green wire with white stripe... if you trace that harness you will see it heads toward the headlight motors...
There are plenty of third gen parts vendors online. you can find a new old stock or secondhand piece.
Or a the junk yard.
Autoparts store, be prepared for mind numbing experience.
What happened to the original part? you bought the car likes this?

I saw that you checked the convenience center for a blown fuse. The motors have a seperate fuse holder hidden under the dash to the right of the steering wheel.

The new part is available but this is not cheap...
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pr...ht-Module.html
try contacting him to see if you can buy a used one.. or check on Ebay....
Why do POs have to BS their way thru a sale? if a part is missing or broken why not just be upfront about it ?! He probably borrowed the box for another project or he bought it that way and too lazy/cheap to fix it..
You were screwed out of 300 $ because if you knew about this issue you could have negociated the purchase price... a bit too late now
I also don't see the mounting bracket for the module on your firewall.. man he screwed you really good !

Easy fix really. Get a couple of spintech or Dynamax or flowtech low restriction cats, come off the manifolds into your cats glass pack and dump in front of the rear wheels. low restriction legal beagle. Buy the packs and cats online or at the auto parts store and go to any independent exhaust shop and they can build the sytem for you.
