IAC valve replacement

Can I replace the IAC valve without removing the throttle body?
If so, what kind of tool would you recommend using?
I tried with a small monkey wrench but it didn't work...

Re: IAC valve replacement

IIRC 1 1/4 open end wrench or j tool 35632 , the iac housing does not need to be removed.

Thanks for the reply.
But I don't think an open end wrench will fit, because there's not much space between the IAC valve and the throttle body.
Also, there's not enough space to use a long wrench there.

Ideally I should use j tool 35632, but isn't there any other good way?

Re: IAC valve replacement

Than get a deep 1 1/4 or 32mm socket and grind the sides if needed for clearance between the tb.

Thanks again.
Yes, I will try a deep socket.
I just wish to find one deep enough to hold the IAC valve.

Re: IAC valve replacement

I would reccommend taking off the throttle body off anyway. Its really easy. It makes getting iac in a snap, and while its off you can clean out all the little nooks and crannys you cant reach while its on. Cleaning all that carbon buildup off the back of the throttle fins and out of the iac tube did wonders for my idle as well. i was wary of taking mine off, but im glad i did it. If you do it though, be careful with that detent cable for the tranny. I broke the clip on mine, and it was not easy finding a replacement.
