This is a wild thought, and no I'm not contemplating doing it..but wondering what would happen if someone were to put flat top or dome pistons on one side of their motor, and dished pistons on the other?
Or, maybe something like 1&2 flat top, 3&4 dish 5&6 flat, 7&8 dish..etc.. or any other way of mix-n-matching pistons and heads..
Aside from being a balance nightmare, if that can even be balanced.
what do y'all think would happen?

That's why I put in the very first sentence, "I'm not contemplating doing it". I'm curious as to what would happen

Re: different pistons on each side

believe it or not ,I have found this done.i found a 350 at my local pick an pull. and when I removed the heads,lo and behold. there were 3 different kinds of pistons!! and both heads were different as well. just when you think you have seen everything. things like that pop up.
