Problem starting 350 TPI 87 IrocZ
Just purchased a 87 Iroc Z 350 TPI car. When starting car I cannot touch the gas pedel until car is running. Can here the fuel pump run and car starts ok. If I touch the gas pedel while starting it will not start until 4 to 5 seconds later. Then I can see a fair amount of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. Can also smell a slight odor of gas or oil burn. Will not do that if it starts right away without touching gas pedel. Also changed oil right away and the oil was slightly past the full mark and looked thinned from gas. So is there a problem with a sensor or the ecm that is the problem? Any help would be great. THANKS JIM

Huh? It only has a problem if you touch the gas pedal while cranking? So don't touch the pedal....you shouldn't have to anyway, it's not carbed? There must be something I'm not getting out of your post. And the blue smoke at start up is likely the normal SBC valve seal leak. Not too hard of a fix if you know what to do.
