Re: have cam need lifters

It doesn't cost $700 for hydraulic flat tappet lifters... You can get a whole cam/lifters kit for $250.

Re: have cam need lifters

If you don't know what lifters you need, then you definitely should have someone who is knowledgeable install that cam for you. It's not difficult, but there IS an art to installing flat tappet cams.. and if you've never done it before, you could potentially ruin your whole engine from a bad cam break-in.

Re: have cam need lifters

I guess main question is how does one go about choosing lifters for thier particular application?

Just depends what you're doing. That's really the best way to describe it. Selecting a cam is a lot harder than getting the right lifter. Picking the right lifter is only difficult if you've got to do custom measurements on unique applications

Re: have cam need lifters

Hyd flat lifters are pretty much a commodity, as far as how they run and such as that. In fact most of the major cam mfrs all use the same source anyway; they just buy em in bulk and box em with their name on the outside.

I'm curious though; what lifters are you finding, that are $700?
