Safety glasses should have side shields. And if they don't fit properly, a face shield should be used when grinding, slagging, or when chipping or chiseling. You can replace a lot of things, but eyes aren't one of them.

yup. There is a guy at work that always gets crap in his eye because he does all the finish work on parts, grinding, deburring type of stuff. I finally had to get some chemistry goggles for him from school.
i got iron in my eye while porting my heads. I was wearing goggles but it happened anyway. It felt like something was in my eye for a week so i broke down and went to an eye doctor. he said the piece started to rust in there and he used a little knife to cut it out.

I was once cleaning a lawn mower carb with Chemtool and sprayed it into a tube. It squirted back out and into my eye. I was ok, but it stung and I thought it was going to melt my contacts.
Ha! I just remembered one day my freind was in the bathroom taking a krap so my brother walks up to the door knocks on the door then from the bottom of the door he takes this can of mace and sprays it under the door at a slight angle. LOL shot that dude right in the eye with it while he was taking a krap!!!! He came out crying like a little batch! LOL
You know what else sucks. Being too close to someone electric welding and burning the crap out of your eyes. Thats how I spent my Saturday night -- crying like a little bieatch because apparently I was standing and looking to close to someone welding. I've never had a problem before because I don't look straight at it, but I'll be damned if it didn't get me this time. Eight hours later, I wake up wondering what the hell is happening-- uncontrollable tears streaming down my face, cloudy vision, and that great feeling as if I'd seasoned my eyeballs with Frank's Red Hot Sauce. It's fun to spend your Saturday night (all night) sitting in a dark room with your eyes open because it burns like a mug to close them...
What about this. I was puting on my cat back, I had the muffler just slipped onto the pipe for fitting and it backed out and fell on my head! Put a nice gash into the side of my nose and THEN I got some crap in my eye from squirming in pain on the ground. But all the blood that came from the cut went into my eye and cleaned it out nice.
Man, Edelbrock mufflers are heavy SOB's.
Hecubus, how are those heads coming?
