I've raced a local guy with a 2nd gen Eclipse RS with an aftermarket Stage II Star turbo kit...it's supposed to have 234 hp at the wheels. Did you notice if the guy you raced had a front mount intercooler? If so, it was probably the same setup.
We raced from 50-60 mph up to 90-100 mph about 7 times one night, and each time I pulled ahead by 2-6 car lengths depending on how long we raced. Afterwards we pulled over, and that's how I know it was a Stage II Star kit...he said he turned his boost up to 9 lbs for the race. The guy was cool, but he wasn't too happy with his car's overall performance. He said he was thinking about getting another Honda...right now he's selling the Eclipse.
. I could have ripped him a new one because it was like a brick wall when the car got to redline. We raced from a slower roll and I made him look so bad. It was all good though, he pulled over and we talked. He's a big electronic geek and did all the turbo work himself. It was a 5 speed and GS so only front wheel drive. Smart looking car but it just didn't have the balls unless it was running over 50mph. Still looks like a fun car on the highway.
