Dude, you must still be high as a MOFO... doesn't sound like you've learned anything...
What makes you think it's ok to speed as long as its dark out in the middle of nowhere? There will always be wild animals that you might swerve for... Why kill an innocent animal because you're adicted to speed? How can you trust that there won't be some random person hiding in the bushes? I have seen a lot of strange **** go down in the middle of nowhere... There is no way you can predict the unpredictable, there will always be random variables that are of high enough statistical value that your luck is garanteed to run out. If you really care about people that care about you, then you'll hang up the holster and think for just a split second...
one...speed doesn't always kill, but it sure helps..a friend that graduated with me was killed six months after we got out. he was riding with one of his college friends home from school. kid swerved to avoid an animal at 1 in the morning. Kid lost control, spun and hit a tree on the pass. front door. My friend was the only one wearing a seat belt and the only one hurt l alone killed. the other three walked away with brusies. my friend was kiled instantly.....they were all stone sober.
SPEED DOESN'T KILL.......STUPIDITY DOES....that's what people are doing, being stupid....don't get me wrong, do stupid s*@t also(street racing, etc.) but it's done in well lit areas an with people i know behnd the wheel of the cars in front and behind me.....but believe m it's still stupid.
adrenaline is one thing, knowing your limits is another
I think that it takes a real situation for you to really calm down.. im 17 going on 2 years with my license and my friend died in a car crash racing another one of my friends.. 95 Civic vs. 85 RX-7. Civic literally WRAPPED "U" shaped around a tree. Kid was 16. Parents bought him the car and he just got new rims and tires he paid for. They raced around a corner out of all places.. If your gonna race.. Race on a straight road with plenty of room
to all you people not payin attention to the big picture haulin *** down the road, i have a real-life scenario for you. one of my fiancee's best friends from childhood just died racing another one of her friends from a football game. she had a beautiful 1989 Camaro RS with the 305 TBI and automatic. she was a beautiful cheerleader with a whole life ahead of her. about a week prior to this accident she had a very bitter breakup with her man of 2 years. i witnessed this very tragic accident and i dont think ill ever be the same again. the two girls had decided to race before the game ended, in fact they were taking a vote to see who people thought would win. the race was the RS versus the other girl's '02 Mustang with a V6. we all went out to the abandoned road on which they decided to race. as they took off the RS opened up a lead very quickly, which it kept throughout the estimated quarter-mile. after they crossed the finish line the Mustang stopped quickly, the RS tried. all we saw was the RS' brake lights flashing as the girl pumped her brake pedal trying to stop her car, then she swerved, lost control of the car and flipped end over end and side over side. she died instantly. the further investigation of the Camaro revealed that her front right brake hose was slashed probably while she was taking a vote on who would win her race. this is the aspect no one thinks of...MECHANICAL FAILURE! it doesn't take someone cutting your brake hose to cause mechanical failure, it can happen anytime, so wisen up before haulin ***....

Man that is horrible to hear. That person that slashed the brake line can now be charged with murder. I hope they find them and they get what they deserve

You forgot about the rock hard tube socks under the bed, dont want your next of kin finding them bad boys.
As far as the crash, It happens. I dont think speeding around like a jackass is a good idea but people do. How many of us got a new car and wanted to see what it could do? I think every one of us is guilty of that, its just the sane ones back down the second they reach the limit.

This is actually the first time I have visited this particular board since I have been a member of this site. I usually stick to the tech boards. This post caught my attention though. This topic never bothered me until I lost a really good friend this past year in a car accident. She wasn't even speeding and she was wearing her seatbelt. It was raining and she hydroplaned off the road into a row of trees. You think that if you die it is your life and nobody else is affected. That is , it was overwhelming how many people this girl's death affected. Your life is a valuable thing to you and others. I am a major car guy, a major part of my life is cars, it seems it is the one true thing I enjoy. As Dom said, " I live my life one 1/4 mile at a time." Yes I street race, but I have to admit I feel much more comfortable racing at the track. High speeds are dangerous and there are risks involved. The same goes for other things like sky diving, parasailing, and other extreme sports, you just have to be as careful as possible if you are going to do it.
Originally posted by nitrobreth i like being 17. i have a fast car. i have no wife. i have no children. i have no one t worry about about except myself. i do not see myself living past 25. i do not want to die. but i know what will happen sooner or later. i do not drive stupid in traffic, or around other people, or when i have passengers. only when i'm alone, on a nice wide country road. people have told me to think about what's important to myself, and is it worth it to die because i like driving fast. yes. to me it is. in "the fast and the furious", when vin diesel says, "that's how i woulda had it." that's what i'm saying.
You know what's fun more fun, than being 17, and thinking that way?
Being in your mid-twenties, and having enough money to make your automotive suicide that much more spectacular.
I, on the other hand, don't see myself as a 35 year old, in 10+ years.
The guys that say it's not worth it to die at age 35 need to spend some time in a nursing home. I'll never live in one.
Imagine knowing that the only reason you're there, is so that you can die without being too much of a burden. Does anybody ever leave a nursing home because they got better? Nope, just in a body bag.
I remember seeing a picture of a Camaro in a drag race. It was ahead of the other car, but completely on fire.
Sounds good to me.
Wow, I can't believe I just spend like 1/2 an hour reading all that!
On topic: It's always horrible when someone is killed in a car wreck. A few years ago, my friend was riding with her grandma and they were hit by a drunk driver and was thrown from the car, and died later that day in the hospital .
As for the people that wanna test the limits of the new car mommy and daddy bought them, its like my bro always says, natural selection.

First I would like to say, people die every day.
Planes, Trains, Automobiles, Hair driers, Falling Buildings. Old age, etc, etc, ad nausium....
People seek out thrills in their lives, and sometimes it bites them right in the a$$. Look at that guy that catches crocks and snakes and says "what a beaut !"
Speed kills, power corrupts.
Does anybody really think that pouring their collective empathy out on a bullitin board is going to change anybody else' mind about driving beyond the limits of reason?
I doubt it.
"Sorry for your loss" offers no consolation to some body that has just had a friend / family member(s) killed in an automobile incident.
Notice I did not say "accident" . Accidents are something beyond reasonable control.
I like high speed, I like acceleration, I like fast corners, and doing doughnuts, I like sex and candy. huh?
Resposibility is a foriegn word to a large percentage of the populace today. I suppose it is to be expected; after all, a draft dodging, blatant womanizing, alledged rapist was elected President TWICE
But I digress.
Nobody wants to be on the recieving end of the phone call, or visit from johnny law, but the truth of the matter is, it happens.
Your fault, Their fault, Nobody's fault; it doesn't matter, some one is just as dead and/or injured.
Sometimes people die in wrecks because they are Slow and Stupid, Others because they are just stupid.
I was a steel hauler for a few years before I went back to wrenching, and I have seen people do the most assinine things in traffic.
It made me realize a few concepts that have proven correct.
1. The number of idiots inhabiting this country is steadily growing.
2. Natural selection has been subverted by the ever expanding "if but one life can be saved by this ..." (please excuse me while I puke).
3. Some people are only alive because it is against the law to kill them.
4. You can do any thing you want to do in this country, IF you give the government enough money.
My hope is that, when you are entertaining your self, you don't remove a productive member of society from the gene pool.
Like I said at the beginning, "people die every day"
Please speed safely.

Reading this thread and I think it has tought me a lesson on how stupid people can be. First of all I think movies like F&F should be rated PG-25 (yup, they should really consider a new rating) so teenagers (both, by age and by brainpower) wouldn't be able to take **** like "that's how i woulda had it." for their motto.. Gawsh!!!
Second thing.. I know it's nice to have your parents to buy you a car for getting the license and stuff. I don't see anything wrong with that, BUT, a dad should have his son/daughter make the money to repair the car themself after the first wreck (which is pretty damn sure thing to happen with your first car, right?), and not accept the repairs before the car looks the same as before the accident. Why? So the teenager will learn the value of money and his car and how much work it means to raise money for something like that.
Ohwell, I guess many young people know the value of their car already, especially the ones who put their allowance on performance stuff, etc., so I guess we actually might have pretty many mature teenagers on this board. Correct me if I'm wrong...
Hehehe.. It turned out kind of old-fart-blabbering-type of a post, didn't it.. FYI, I'm only 25 myself and I've learned quite a few lessons the hard way and still paying for my mistakes. Don't want the same to happen to anybody else.
