maybe he means the old 4+3 trans. It was just a T10 with a powerglide? type auto trans bolted to it. I believe you got 1st gear, then 2nd 3rd and 4th had a overdrive. I guess this is what he's talking about. I don't think it's anything special but I could be wrong.
the "old" 4+3 Doug Nash in 84 to 88 vettes could be made in to a true 7 speed manual tranny by removing a sensor on the transmission. the last time i checked no third gen with its sad 5 speed could take me in my "old" 4+3
No offense intended. Guess I should have said relatively old, but I still don't think they're anything really to write home about. They are better than the t5 but then again what isn't. I just don't think they hold a candle to a t56 or a zf 6 speed. I've heard that the auto trans case on the back is the main problem, the t10 was and still is a pretty good tranny.
