2000 pontiac grand am GT 3.4 L auto top speed.???

hey guys my mom and dad just bought a 2000 pontiac grand am GT and the speedomiter goes to 150mph now i know it will not go that fast but i was wondering what the actual top speed of these cars are and if they run any impresive times at all in stock form. this car is all stock off the lot with 34xxx miles on it and its auto with the 3.4 L v6 in it.
my dad was goofing around with me saying that it would beat my car just cause the speedo goes to 150 mph and mine only goes to 115mph.
my engine mods: 83 Z28 lg4 305 auto

Wehin Stealth intake

Crane Cam (not shure what size but has a real lopy idle)

Hooker Competition Headers

Carter AFB copetition series Carb

true 2.5 inch duals dumping into flowmaster mufflers

Hei ignition upgrade

accel plug wires

373 gears in the rear

Full toon up

Summit open air filter

Electric feul pump (high flow)

im prolly never even going to race the car i was just wondering if my moms grocery getter poses a threat to me at all for $hits and giggles.

I'll clue you in... My speedometer goes to 130 and I have a governor at 117... my top speed is therefore 117 MPH... probably closer to 140 without it. It's a '97 Camaro RS... I'd bet that the grand am has a similar governor... Check the speed rating on the tires, that usually determines the speed governor... That car can probably do 130...

Oh and the 3.4 makes about 160 Hp... in a 3000 lb car... mid 16's probably

I'm not sure what the top speed is, but I wish the GTP's got the 155mph speedo. We have to make do with the crappy 115mph. I guess that's better than my 85 T/A that only went up to 85mph.

Well, a friend raced his Wife's brand new GAGT and first run got 15.3 or so. no bad considering it was all stock out of a NA 3.4L car. I'm sure with better practice and maybe some slicks he could get a 14.9 or so. Not bad indeed.
Sorry i couldn't answer your top speed question.

The grand am makes 175 hp. It likely has a limiter around 110-115 as said above due to tire speed ratings.

I had a 2002 GT, it wasn't THAT bad. The limiter is 121mph, verified. It would probably go 135, it has the power. 175hp
