88 modded fiero SE goes down

My car--350 tpi His car
mods---edelbrock Tes Fiero SE
K&N filters
FUll exhaust, no cat/
No emissions.
Fully ported plenum.
3.23 gears Posi track

Well this kid at my high school, constantly talks trash, and its really getting old, so today, We left at the same time and raced about 6 times.

First time---On a big rod slight hill, at a red light. Light pops green, and after i spin my tires for a good 10 seconds I pull on him hard, and get about 4-5 cars on him. We shut it down around 75 or so. Then he says it was bs "we were on a hill" , ok so then we cant get a good light, so We find a somewhat deserted road, and I tell him, count to three and go. So we both count, then we go, I once again spinum real bad, but put 5+ cars on him. Then, he says, it wasnt fair, cause hes got a stick. So then we find a light, and he edges out into the intersection by a car length before the light turns green, and I dont race, I wasnt ready, . Then hes all mad!! so then we go one last time, and kind of hit a light but it was turning green while we were stopping, so we went from a roll again, and he actually stayed with me that time for a bit, but after 60 or so i put 3+ cars on him.

I guess his **** talk will stop now!!!!

His car was faster then i thought though, Cause ive run low 14's before at the track, so his car was probably in the 15's. But a fiero???? I thought those were junky slow cars?? Maybe hes done some stuff to it. Well whatever

I know if i could hook up hed be toast!!!!

Fieros are slow, quicker than the 2.8 and 3.1L v6 birds/camaro's but still slow.

However, with a few mods, or a v8 engine swap they FLY. Here's a site to see exactly what people do to them for CHEAP.

hey fruityone, 15.3 @87mph????

And your calling a fiero slow?? I dont know if you have much room to talk.

Yes a fiero 4 banger is a dog.

A fiero gt is a 15-16 second car.

A fiero SE special ediition is a potential 14 second car with very mild mods!!!!

Id watch out for a fiero se, there faster then you think..

my best time is 14.08 on drag radials.. (borrowed)

If your first response to my level headed one is an insult than I don't know if I should even bother talking to you.

You don't know the story behind my car so cut the insults and you might find out what TBI 350 heads do to a L98 engine. Perhaps if I had the proper heads on my L98 then I'd run faster.

BTW, my car has NOTHING to do with this conversation. This has to do with YOUR car and a Fiero.

There is nothing negative, or insulting about that statement. Its a factual comparison. Fiero's are slow, quicker than v6 F-bodies, but still slower than many cars.

There are SUV's out there now that are QUICKER than the fastest showroom stock L98 F-body. The Subaru Forrester XT comes to mind. 13.8 @ 100mph.

I don't know which Fiero SE v6's you are talking about. The only specs I see for them say they have the 2.8L v6, and they don't really mention anything about mods.

I love little Fiero's.

I want one as a v8 project car, and I'd like one a nice inline 4 as a daily driver. Great handling, and still fairly sporty.

Notice, calling a v8 F-body "sporty" would be an insult. I have several video's of v8 Fiero's kicking *** on the drag strip and on the street. The 3.8L GTP motors are common swaps too. They can be modded fairly cheaply for insane HP.

No they're not. The only difference between a Fiero GT and A v6 fiero SE is the bodywork. And that's not adding enough weight to make that big of a difference. Plus most SE's are usually 4 cyl cars. The ones to watch out for are the v6 base models, the Forumulas and the 85 GT. Though the difference isn't really large enough to consider getting one over another.

Then there's the fact that they didn't even make Fiero SE's in 88 so the car in question in this topic is either not an 88 or not an SE.

I'd like to add that they guy you raced sounded like a tool, so good for beating him.

how about a fiero with a 350 LT1 vette motor..we've got one around here. And it's scary..he walks my WRX in 4th gear at 1/2 throttle like it's standing still and that's a 13 second car.

not to mention that the fieros had the 50/50 weight distribution. I would definitely love to find someone selling a V8 fiero.

It's more like 45/55 with the weight biased to the back wheels.

Icebird_1981, they're not that small inside. Except for it being a little cramped around the pedals, it's actually roomier than the front half of alot of cars. Getting in and out of one is still something everyone has to figure out for themselves, however.

Before I was married, I was thinking on buying one of the GT versoins - I like their lines, kinda look like a baby F-body, IMHO. Yeah, it's an f-body !! But, I got married so nope, ain't happening.
