'03 Toyota Tundra

My buddy has a 2003 Tundra. Its the TRD edition with the offroad stuff and the supercharger. When my LT1 is in, do you think I could take it? He wants to race now, and I know I would lose. He has about 320hp. I told him to race me when the LT1 is in. I'll also have a probuilt 700R4, 2200stall, 3.42 posi, and some sort of exhaust.

An LT1 in a 4th or 3rd gen car will DESTROY that truck. Yea it makes 320 horses but it is a heavy truck not meant for racing. Just look at all of the new 345horse Hemis that are getting beat by bolt on LO3's. Great motors with lots of power, but to bad they are stuck in a 5000 poud vehicles. I would race him now.

I raced one at the 1/8th mile strip, he was dialing a 10.10... def. not slow for what it is though.. i doubt if an L03, LG4, L69 could take it.. as a matter of fact I know they wouldn't.

My bone stock L03 ran a 10.4 in the 1/8. With just a bolt on or 2, that truck would be toast. An L69 would destroy it.

I have a timeslip right in front me of that race. The truck was bone stock.

The truck went 10.325@71.632 with a 2.540 60ft

And I'm sure that wasn't his best run ever, becuase that was close to the end of the night and our cars were getting hot. I ran a 1/10th slower than my best on that run.

I'm just going by what I see on track and on the street around here... I'm not defending the truck or anything, I don't particularly care for it myself, but I think it would give some stock or near stock 305 guys a run for their money.

Thanks guys. I ran a 10.57 at 67.4mph in the 1/8th a while ago. That was with no tuning, stock shift speed, and no catback. I probably wouldn't do too much better now, but better. I am guessing that he will kill me off the line now. I pull 2.44 60' with no lowend due to mismatched drivetrain. Once the stall and gears are in, I could easily take him. Would he have me from a roll though? His weight would be a lot less of a disadvantage.

I have no idea what the s/c Taco's run. They maybe 320 hp and have, but I would expect them to at least be in the 15s, if not 14s. With an LT1 swap and that work you are going to have done, you would massacre him. You should run 13s with that setup.

Yea I know, I can't wait For now I am just going to put a nice rear in, get the new tranny and the stall and see what my car can do with a matched drivetrain Then I'll put the LT1 in. With what you guys said, I could probably take him with the LG4 and mods. Thanks.

I agree, run him now. If you don't win I think it'd be close. Good luck.

A stock Tundra V8 is a low 16 stock, MAYBE high 15 but I doubt it. My friends 2002 FX4 Ranger ext. cab runs a 16.2@85 with just an air intake and a small 4.0 V6! He now has a 75 shot of nitrous too, no times with that yet though. It also has stock 4.10 limited slip and 5spd auto. BUT, it is a heavy truck. Stop HP is like 205 or so.
