does this make sense?

I was thinking about upgrading my stock TPI intake to either a holley stealth ram or an lt1 intake .For 2 reasons one too make more power obviously.

And two is the one i'm asking about.I'm trying to save the stock 150,000 mile rear end, for as long as possible and since the Tpi is such a low end torque monster,Would the change to an HSR or LT1 intake be less hurtfull to the rear end since they would move the power band up and reduce the amount of low end torque.

Any replies will be appreciated.

Yes youd have to rev higher to reach your peak torque, so yes it will be less harfull ....

but if you enjoy it too much lol, it wont make that much diffrence.
Pll in 4th gens blow up the rear ends too

ps: oh and when you say more power, you mean horsepower, right ?

well in the end it will probally be the same

my theory

right now you get on it do a nice lil burn out every once and awile

with a stealth ram or lt1 you will be getting on it a hell of alot more showing everyone and proving to yourself its much more powerful

Cheers

Don't underestimate the torque of an LT1 setup. My LT1 setup with a 224/230 cam pulls like hell even as low as 2000RPM or slightly under. I doubt it'd make much of a difference. Granted, I have better heads than stock L98 heads.

I'm beginning to research putting a Ford 8.8" in my car this spring.

Both the HSR and the LT1 intake make just as much torque and for longer through the powerband.

My car stock would make 320 rwtq from 2100 rpm to 4900 rpm, only then does it very slowly start falling. The HSR powerband is very similar.

By adding either of these intakes you would increase your power, and increase wear on the bottom end. The only way to be sure your bottom end is safe, is to rebuild the motor.

I was talking about the rear end,not the bottom end of the engine that is already rebuilt.

I am going to agree with this. The TPI may peak around the same as an LT1 but the Gen II motor will carry that power over a much wider power band. Making more power doesn't keep something from breaking. Doesn't make sense does it?
