I am from the Pittsburgh, PA area. I have a healthy 400 SBC TA, but driving around the area I continuely run into vehicles way faster. I was wondering who felt there area has the fastest competition.
Seems like every Honda around here doesn't have a fart muffler anymore, they have 300+ HP.
Have a 1200 HP Supra.
Tons of fast Pony cars.
One of the countries fastest Thunderbird Supercoupes.
Couple DSM's running 400+.
3 Modified Syclones, 2 GN's, my old Typhoon.
The list is just the people I know and I am just talking the immediate small town area of me.

I think with the amout of aftermarket support combined with the unlimited online recourses/forums every area has its "fast" cars. Cars are most peoples hidden passion (despite what they do for a living) and there are fast cars everywhere you go. South west Ohio has some of the fastest 4th gens on the planet. The Ohio boys run their turbo 382 LS1 and click off 8.5's at 165mph. Other than that all the other fast cars are no different than the next states.
We have a good amount of 8 and 9 second street cars in my area. I know Jersey has a lot of fast cars too. Also to note we are 2+ hours from the track and still have 8 second cars all over. If there were a track closer I think there would be even more faster cars.
and tampa bay definately has some very quick cars!
also arizona and the racing southwest website ppl. those guys also very quick
your from pittsburgh area? i dont think i ever seen your TA before. you ever take it to the race track--pittsburgh raceway park?
but yeah pittsburgh has some nice competition.. most cars are in the 11-12 second range now. 11's are quick but 12's isnt all that fast. we do have the 1200+hp supra.. and the fastest Street Rod in the country.. the 32 or 33 ford that goes 8.5's at 160+ on a big block with juice
Cali definitely has a bunch of fast ones, Texas is a for sure with fast ones, Definitely Chi-Town with the fast ones. All those areas have a big racing history.
Orr89RocZ - Just drove the TA for the first time this year, have 300 miles on it so far, 125 miles have been on Beaver Run. Planning on PRP eventually, it just opened up this last weekend right?
I live in an average city called Champaign, IL. It along with it's other city which is actually the same city called Urbana have 110,000 combined population. There are a few fast *** Supras around here, bunches of LS1s, Dsms, a fast *** street car Dodge Charger, some decent third gens, ****load of 5.slows, and LT1s of course. Pretty much everything, I can't imagine what some of the bigger cities liek Chicago and Houston and **** have.
HA thats easy North Carolina has the absolute fastest cars on the plant! Especially at 5:10AM when I'm running late for work!
haha. NC is getting faster and faster, especially since we have so many bases and all the young soldiers have some fast cars. But i think every state is getting faster. If i had to pick a state for the fastest competition tho, id have to say florida or california. Street racing has been their scene for a while now.
Ive never been to texas, but I know of a crx that beats turboed ls1's there, and he says theres lots of fast american cars. Ive been to bakersfield CA and they are crazy. Lots of fast cars, but when theres 500 cars theres bound to be some fast ones. I live in tacoma, and the kent scene is pretty dead 2f2f style. its a car show there, but tacoma is coming up. Our regulars include a skyline powered 240 that runs hard, several evo's and STi's hitting 10's, and a 35 yo woman with a built TT AWD porsche, that slays. Not many american cars though, but the new mustangs are making an appearance this spring.
Houston, hands down. Home of the fastest quarter mile in the world...or so they say. Lots of big Iron, super fast imports, exotics, you name it- it's here. ****, theres more than one Viper eating Civic within 5 square miles of my house...
yeah actually he's from houston, white crx, had a cf hood covering a b18b motor with forged 7.9:1 pistons, GSR DOHC vtec head, JDM integra type R cams, shot peened type r rods+16-20lbs of boost = a crx that'll fly to the moon and revs to 9k
im from pittsburgh and get it handed to me all the time oh well maybe when I am done with all the work it will be able to hold its own against some of those cars
I am just sick of getting it handed to me by the guy who does my girls nails... but I dont ever think I will be able to touch his supra or my friend friends 03 cobra with that kenny blower on it
we got a few here in CT. got a 8 or 9 second ls1 a lot of really fast dsms i means lots such as 20+ all together every weekend. We got a bunch of srt4's of course modded. got cobras modded like crazy. turbo z24 cavaliers, lots of turbos around here and we do have some muscle just not as much as the foreign. we got old school big blocks and new school stuff too. not too many exotics come here though
in maquoketa we have absolutely nothing just my car, 2 c5, a friends 98 lid cat back ws6, another friends vr4 and, a few ponies, that is about it for cars that run in the lower 14's

EDIT: stu was trying to post this and wouldn't let him. I tried wouldn't let me either till I made the above post. the single period then I had to edit to add this. what gives?
This is a guy on my home board out of Colorado Springs. I know most of these cars aren't in the league of what you guys are talking about, but his (servion, 4th down) has been running tens for two years now at over a mile above sea level. 612 whp out of a 1.8 liter anyone?
Here in Hagerstown we have a car show @ the mall every Sat nite. On average there's about 200 cars there. There was a 5.0 there tonite with a turbo and major work done. He had a dyno sheet in the window with something like 1300 HP ! There's a blown alcohol Mach 1 out there sometimes that the guy that own's The Black Stallion monster truck helped build. There's an 8 sec Civic runnin around. Extreme Motorsports in Jessup(about an hour away) has the world's fastest DSM. And of course my lil cousin with the Ken Bell powered 00 GT.
The Hampton Roads/Richmond areas of virginia seems to have an abundance of really fast cars.
Less than 1 mile from my house is a 1200rwhp SC'd foxbody Mustang, 700rwhp Turbo C4 Vette, 600rwhp 95 Supra.
idaho falls idaho , a town of 50k . we have 3 8-second cars on the street (2 of them r 3rd gens) and 1 of em are going for 7s next weekend in vegas. 3 cars in the 9s and 5 in the 10s.

awesome, my friend is in the Navy and is stationed down in Norfolk... wonder if he ever seen any of those fast cars
Is it the dude with the Orange 2F2F Supra? The guy with way to much hair product?
The saying is true though, there will always be a faster car out there. It is still nice to be faster than the majority.
If its who i'm thinking of, hes from pittsburgh and his supra is making more than 1200hp at the crank. It dynoed over 1050whp. The car is black and sounds nasty, definitely not your typical supra.
The black supra I know, he is friends with my bud with a 500 WHP JDM Teg. He actually lives probably 1 mile from my parents house. Nice guy, only talked to him a couple times.
I think the other guy was talking of someone that does nails and isn't the black supra.

haha definitly not the Bay Area. All that I see are a bunch of ragged and rusted 5.0's with "dubs" and "scrapers". In my neighborhood in San Leandro there used to be a NHRA professional driver that owned a funny car that would rip through the streets at night. I saw him win an event on TV a couple years back. 99.9% of people here think that Flowmaster makes the best flowing mufflers, and if they don't, it doesn't matter beacause it's the only performance exhaust there is

Yep, his name is Jon and hes very nice person to talk to. Definitely very approachable if you have any questions about his car or just wanna know about it.
We certainly play host to some of the fastest street cars on the planet, with the majority of them coming in from my first home, New York. For those who are familiar with E-Town, I'm sure the term "Vette Doctors" rings a bell...
