87 Bird VS. 08 Gti?

The Bird has a stock 350 4-barrel, with a 700r4, pretty experienced driver, a/c out and heater out, headliner is out.

The Gti has a 5speed the turbo stock, a equally good driver.

So who do you all think would win and what if i had a 5-speed or 6?

So who would win?

Stock 350 from what year vehicle with what heads? (is it an l98 with a 4 barrel on top)? Or something different?

The GTI is what a 200 hp 2700lb car?

And its front wheel drive. From a dig you should win. The GTI's only good for high 14's @ best. Whereas a stock l98 car should be better then that.

Now if its a highway pull im sure the GTI would do much MUCH better.

he has a point, you've got power and the weight advantage he has isn't very big. plus, you've got more low end really, so a dig would be all yours. and if we're going to factor in aerodynamics i'd say you have a deffinite advantage over a hatchback i really wish these cars were lighter though, that would really help in the 1/4.

They run 14.8's stock. But with a boost controller and running an extra 6-10psi they might be able to break mid 13's with traction. But if your for sure hes stock then you have him beat unless your going from a roll.. then it will be about even.

Re: 87 Bird VS. 08 Gti?

A buddy of mine, has an 04' GTI, with boost control, stage 2 turbo, and says he is pushing 22 psi. Not quite sure i believe it, but he does pretty and he has a lot of money, so i could believe it I guess. We went on a back road a couple days ago and squared off. Needless to say, we went twice to make sure it wasnt a fluke, first time I won, had a good launch and took him by about 7 cars. Second time, i spun and took him by five lengths. Both were from a dig, and on bald 245's for me.

Mine is a 85' Z, with 355 four bolt, cam, Sportsman II heads, stock TPI intake, self ported, cold air kit, TES shorty headers, and a 3 inch exhaust with cutouts. Race prep 700-R4 with corvette servo and kevlar bands and packs. 3.36 posi 9-bolt, B&M Megashifter, and a lot of ignition upgrades. Too much other stuff to list. On the track with my stock tires, i hit a 2.086 60 ft time.

Chalk one up for the American Iron baby.... "on your head"

L98's were good engines but they arent that damn good, it takes alot to make them over 490hp(Naturally Aspirated) That is. But If i put Vortec Heads on and a 750CFM Holley Street and the Weiand Air Strike and Headers.

Then What will it be.

What happened to the 455 project?

If you put that vortec/holley/weiand combo together, you'll go 9s in the quarter no problem.
Why don't you just race him instead of jacking off on here? You're just shooting a bunch of "what if" nonsense at us that's never going to happen. "What ifs" are lame.

I have a few wires to connect before we can, but hes worried haha. But we will in both a dig and roll.

Im GOing to get a another 1987 Firebird Same body and everything Rip it all out(Engine Interior, etc.). With the onl difference being its a Hard-top, and this is what i plan on doing. And i have been looking for A shell or close to it but good chassis no dents or dings but i may have to spend a lil more cash.
