Yeah, a station wagon one too I might ad wants to race me this coming thursday. Has anyone seen these things fast? It looks like a heavy car and for some reason the guy has futura (pep boy tires) on it so I'm assuming that either he doesn't have traction issues or he is slow. What do you guys think. Will my little 355 Formy beat him or will I lose. I think the front fender said 2.8 on it. I assume it is rear wheel drive so it should be like racing a 2.8 camaro right? I should win, right?
Please tell me your joking. If you lose to that just sell your car and walk. Assuming you do have a 355. Hell you could beat it in a 2.8 camaro if driven right.

Has any of these cars been built up. I keep hearing from my friends that I could beat him with my formy being stock but I don't know. There always is the sleeper.
This has to be a joke, is this what this site has come down to? Asking if a Celebrity wagon is fast? Asking if it'll have tractions issues because it has Pep Boys tires on it? Ughhhh

most have a 2.5 4 cyl and my lg4 aint scared at all, even I wouldnt waste the gas on that one. even the 2.8 big deal... are you for real? 2.8 camaros wont have a problem with them either
well, it's FWD and not really heavy at all. maybe less than your camaro
second he could have a nitrous kit. we used to do that to a wagon cav. and let me tell you the 3.1 in the cav. took alot of f-body cars and fox 5.0s on the 75 shot. really was not "fast" but prolly ran low 15's maybe a very high 14.
the 2.8 depending on year was just about the same. so you just don't know. I would guess stock it is a mid 16 secod car.
why would this race even get brought up? did he start the talks?
I had a citation briefly when I was 16, its about a 30 second car. I beat a celebrity with that. You should be able to push your car and still beat him. Then again stranger things have happened.
Hey, I once saw a Celebrity Wagon that was all wheel drive, and had a seriously reworked 3.1.... It could sit at a lite, and smoke ALL FOUR tires..... That looked seriously..... wrong......
wagon? the 6000 ste 89 car had a 3.1 AWD and I would think a gtp 3.1 turbo swap with some simple upgrades would be easy bolt in. spinning all 4 would be next to impossiable.
Car had a swapped in 454 carbed big block. He rolls with a bunch of malibu station wagons. I never saw a car like this before! I need to get some pics up because besides the narrowed rear end and the big rear tires, it looks bone stock. It even has the huge radio antenna. It was whack. I might race him when the snow goes away.
i seen a beretta with a 3400 motor in it at the drag strip tonight, a true sleeper, but not super fast........ i would say if i were to build a sleeper a wagon would be a good idea, keep a quiet exhaust on it, (maybe a cut out), never pop the hood, keep the punny 2.8 badge on it.......
have him pop the hood, LOL see what he has, i dont think the 2.8 would be anything to worry about, even if he was spraying, now if he has a 3400, or 3800 in it or something wierd and is spraying you may have trouble, a 3800 with a stock supercharger (silent) may do something
or he may just be a stupid rice boy
if it has stickers on it, a single wiper arm, a fart cannon, a wing or something watch out he is a serrious rice burner, atleast 1000HP with the stickers, and if he ahs the other mods mentioned then its the fastest thing in the world *COUGH COUGH*
Any car can be built up, check out this Plymouth Reliant, Click Here. I've seen quite a few Celebrity wagon's running unbelievable numbers at the track....

I'd much rather be stroked first... then blown. Wouldn't you?
the other dealership i worked at we had a mechanic who was a circle track racer and had a 2.8 celebrity(the regular one not the wagon) pushing 300hp n/a had a 750 holley dp on it and i would have sworn it had a v8 in it just listening to it pull in
I would like to just add that I drive a 1986 Pontiac 6000 for a winter car. My mother purchased it brand new. She gave it to me when I was 16.
The car is 22 years old. The ONLY repairs it ever needed was a TPS, a few vacuum lines, water pump, and radiator. And of course pads/rotors. The car has never left me stranded, and as of right now, the original engine and transmission function great (100,000 + miles). I'm sure I'll never have a car as dependable as this one ever again. Long live the 2.8! Haha.
I realize this doesn't have much to do with this thread, but I sure do love my Pontiac 6000

lets not forget the bad turbo mini van. when we talk about wierd fast sleepers. point being made here is that any car can be fast, even the slowest of factory cars
woooowwww this thread is definitely interesting... and that van just made me laugh. I better watch out for those grand caravans lol you should be fine...that is, unless he has one of these bad boys: http://www.electricsupercharger.net/contact.php
