91 formula vs. new eclipse

This happened to be my first race since my engine was rebuilt with a cam shaft upgrade from comp cams xr258hr12.
I have until now taken it very easy on the car, because the engine has not been broken in yet. I have now put about 2200 miles on the motor since the rebuilt, and felt that it might be safe to take my car up to yellow line at 5k rpm.

So I was coming home after dropping a friend off at his home after work, and as I am driving, this guy in a new eclipse, don't know what motor was in it, pulled up right in front of me as I was making a left turn onto a 2 lane road. I moved over to the right lane, and continued to drive normally. The guy in the eclipse was driving in the left lane and slowed down. As I approached his car, he started pacing me, and revving up his engine. I looked over, and saw that he had a passenger, and a radar detector on his windshield. I wasn't certain that I wanted to race at that point, but the light that we were approaching turned red and we stopped. At the traffic light the guy was revving up and looking over, trying to race me. I gave my car a little rev so that he could hear my engine. As the light turned green, he gunned it, causing his wheels to spin. I took off, spinning my tires through all of first gear, with a bark into second (my V rated tires are not that great). At that point, I was nose to nose with the eclipse. By the time I shifted in to third the eclipse was in my rear vue mirror. I guess he thought that he could beat my old bird. Must have been a bit disappointed that his brand new car got smoked by a 17 year old car with flaking paint.

YES! I hate eclipses. There's this girl at my school who thinks they are the most badass car ever, so I told her that it has nothing on a Trans Am. Well she found this video of an Eclipse smoking a 4th Gen because the guy in the Trans Am forgot to shift right, so I found a video of a CAVALIER destroying an Eclipse. I'm glad you beat that eclipse in a 3rd gen, I hate them so much.

I always laugh at the fact my $500 1985 Firebird S/E was faster then my dads $30,000 2006 Charger.

I felt the same way when some guy in a '74 Firebird totally annihilated my '91 Formula....

Actually 14.38 is pretty good for that car stock. All of the numbers I have seen from the different magazines vary between 14.8 and 15.2. He must have a pretty strong running one.
