88 Trans Am 305 TBI w/ some mods vs. 99 Grand Prix GT intake, full exhaust, 4 door

So i was on my way home after hanging with a buddy of mine on sunday and i was cruising down the main road in my town. It is a 2 lane road on each side that eventually merges into a single lane road on each side of town. So i was reaching the east side of town when i come up next to a 99 Grand Prix GT with the 3800 V6. He is a local student at the highschool and i graduated a year ahead of him and he always talked about how fast his grand prix is. So as i was going 45 (the speed limit in town) he started to slow down in the right lane. Now we are about 1/4 mile from where you have to merge and he he decides to pace me and keep up. So i drop my car down into 2nd and keep it in the mid rpm's. He starts to slowly accelerate to keep up with me and so i slam the gas for a second to give the engine a good wine. he slams his gas, takes off and gets about a fender ahead when i decide to go for it. Shure enough i blew past him in 2nd at 65mph and slapped third and squacked the tires and slid right in front of him... He then gets in the turn lane at the next light, rolls his window down and says,"damn thats a nice sounding 350 u got!!" haha i laughed and said, "sorry bud, its only a 305!!!" Just makes me laugh cause everyone seems to want to race me when i go though town just because i own a bird. theres me and 4-5 other birds in town and i have yet to race one of them but i know who owns them and some are good friends.. Just thought id share my expereince with you all thanks for reading!

Re: 88 Trans Am 305 TBI w/ some mods vs. 99 Grand Prix GT intake, full exhaust, 4 doo

haha wicked.

There are NO birds around here, I've only seen only 1 Trans-AM and 1 GTA around here in all my 2 years of driving...the rest ive seen are camaros...but even those are a freaking rare sight!

...it's sad...but oh so awesome because of all the kids out here in thier civic hatchbacks with fart cans...cruising with a buddy I always slam up beside them in the GTA with the T-tops off laughing like a mad man and they seem to have the typical pissed off expression.

way to many ugly newer model look alike cars on the road today (The joys of driving a third gen), and all the mustangs i see around here have fat women driving them, I swear to god...I go up next to them expecting to have a little fun and this pudgy face peeks over at me...if that dosen't just crush you dead!

There is a Ferrari parked around here locally and i see it all the time (So cleaaaan) but i never bother him...whenever hes around tho...the roads his...and i loose my crown XD

It all evens out

I have 2 cars my 91 maro(shes my baby) and a 2002 grand prix gt 3.8, when I had my old l03 I had a full 3inch exhaust, mild weight reduction a hypercrap chip, smog/emissions delete, cat delete/ 160 thermo, underdrive belt, 14x3 breather, and a 2.73 rear with 2000rpm converter, and my 02 prix would dust my 305. 0-60mph the best my 305 ever did was a 7.8, the prix pulls a consistant 7.5. The best 1/4 I ever went with that 305 was a 15.9 the prix pulls consistant 15.6s and once went 15.3.

Im not saying my L03 could of would or crush a grand prix cause believe me ive seen grand prix gt's run high 12's. But from a rolling standpoint i was able to but i know for a fact from a dead stop on a 1/4 mile he would of beaten me. I have nothing again grand prix's as i used to own a 1997 Grand am GT that i supercharged and dropped about 4,000 into in just mods and exterior work which i then traded for the trans am i have now.

I raced a 2002-2003 (idk exactly what it was) grand prix when i got my 350 in and i could not get away from him.... keep in mind my engine was shot and i am now swapping in a rebuilt 350 but still i was suprised.... now when i'm done again with my new swap i'm gonna go find him ....

this is kind of off topic but I saw that you said that you had an edelbrock 14 by 3 open element and a K&N filter. what size is the filter??
